UN Climate Change Conference UK 2021

What is COP26?

The annual United Nations Climate Change Conference brings the world together to take action for our planet. This year, it will be hosted in Glasgow from 31 October to 12 November, and aims to accelerate collaboration between governments, businesses and society.

Sainsbury’s and COP26

We are proud to have been chosen as Principal Supermarket Partner for COP26 so we can support delivery of this momentous event, and work with world leaders, climate experts and businesses to drive positive change.

We are recognised as a climate leader because we reduced our carbon footprint by 47 per cent over the past 17 years, and are on track to ensure our own operations are carbon net zero by 2040.

We are also working hard to reduce our food waste, plastic packaging and water usage and have increased the amount we recycle. Alongside this, we’re promoting healthy and sustainable eating across the UK with our new brand mission Helping Everyone Eat Better.
